After recovering from major surgery, following a car accident, Xyra begins anew!
With the help of pianist/guitarist, Andrew Cann, multiwind player, Don Stapleson, bassist/guitarist, Jeff Spencer and drummer/percussionist, Dave Ray, she records an obscure tune for a Procol Harum tribute compilation. This time, Avalon Sound Studio is the venue of choice.
The compilation is the brainchild of a group called The Palers' Project, headed by Roland Clare in the UK. It comprises efforts by chiefly unsigned artists, doing interpretations of PH tunes.
The Palers' Project people were trying to get Xyra and friends to contribute for three years, as this is the third PH tribute compilation.

The Paler's Project Procol Harum Tribute
The tribute the XYRA band (AKA The Banished) had in mind was a German Cabaret style rendition of the obscure tune, 'Saw the Fire' written and recorded by Procol musicians in the 1980s.
Rehearsals went great, and the studio sessions at Avalon resulted in a stellar product. Xyra already has permission to put the song on their next CD, 'The Banished', slated for development in 2006.
Norm Thorne, the original drummer for Xyra and crew, recently underwent serious back surgery, last month. He is recovering nicely, and expects to be able to play out in 6 months. Our best thoughts are with him! (See band member bios.)
